Bolberry Down is a National Trust Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, rich with wildlife and plants. The views from the coast path - as mentioned in Lonely Planet, are breathtaking and the sunsets seen from Port Light Hotel & Restaurant are stunning.
Secluded coves and beautiful beaches frequent the coastline in both directions from the hotel.
The nearest towns are the market town of Kingsbridge where you can kayak or paddleboard down the estuary to the yachting haven of Salcombe. A little further away are the historic towns of Totnes and Dartmouth - with boat trips operating between them.
Along the coast from Hope Cove's two beaches are South Milton Sands and Thurlestone Beach where you can hire windsurfs and kayaks and have lessons if you choose.
Bantham beach is next along the coast where surfing and bodyboarding is a favourite for locals and tourists alike.
A small passenger ferry operates between Bantham and Bigbury. It is from Bigbury that you can walk or ride in the sea tractor to the famous Agatha Christie Burgh Island, which can be seen from Port Light Hotel.
